FOX CROSSING – Authorities say a wrong-way driver collided with four vehicles on I-41 Friday after leading deputies on a pursuit that began in Winnebago County.
According to a news release, the Fox Crossing Fire Department along with auto-aid units, were called out about 10:30 p.m. May 8 to I-41 southbound for the report of a multi-vehicle accident with injuries and entrapment.
When Fox Crossing Engine 40 arrived on the scene, responders found multiple vehicles with heavy damage and three patients from two vehicles requiring extrication.
Fox Crossing and Grand Chute firefighters used multiple sets of extrication equipment to extricated the three patients from two vehicles.
In total five patients were treated on scene and transported with help from Gold Cross Ambulance, Theda Star, and Flight for Life.
Fox Crossing Fire Department remained on location into the early hours of Saturday to assist Wisconsin State Patrol with accident reconstruction and incident clean up.
Grand Chute Fire Department, Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue, Gold Cross Ambulance, Theda Star, Flight for Life, Fox Crossing Police Department, Grand Chute Police Department, WI State Patrol and the Winnebago County Highway Department assisted at the scene.
