WRIGHTSTOWN — With the Fox River overflowing its banks near Wrightstown, officials are urging people to stay away from the river for their own safety.

“With super high water and dangerous currents with all the rainfall please stay away from all rivers and streams,” the Village of Wrightstown posted Tuesday morning on social media. “Mueller park is closed.”

In Kaukauna, The trail to the fishing pier at tge 1000 Islands Nature Preserve is closed due to high water, but the boardwalk trail is open. Beyond the boardwalk there is standing water and mud.

The warning comes ahead of more rain expected Tuesday that could trigger flash flooding and severe weather.

Scattered storms are expected late this afternoon through late this evening, with some potentially severe across central into east-central Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

These storms could bring large hail of 1 to 2+ inches in diameter, damaging wind gusts greater than 60 mph, a tornado, and locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding.
