Kaukauna team wrestling 2026

KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna has an opportunity to win a program-record sixth state team title in a row when the Ghosts take to the mat Thursday in La Crosse in the WIAA state team wrestling tournament.

The 35th annual tournament runs Friday and Saturday, March 6-7, and for the first time is being held at the La Crosse Center.

The Ghosts will be led by eight wrestlers who qualified for last weekend’s individual state tournament, including Liam Crook, who won his third individual wrestling title.

Five-time defending champion Kaukauna was issued the top seed in the bracket.

The Galloping Ghosts qualified for the 17th time in the last 19 seasons and for a membership-leading 24th time overall.

They had a string of five straight appearances from 1999-2003 and have surpassed that streak with their current run of 14 consecutive appearances.

The Ghosts have won a total of nine Division 1 state championships overall, including four straight from 2014-’17 and the current streak of five in a row.

The Galloping Ghosts have also finished runner-up four times, including 2000, 2003, 2008 and 2013.
