KANSAS CITY — Leonardo Gasca Ramirez, 13, a Kaukauna River View Middle School student, is a 145-pound Silver Gloves national champion after his win today at the 59th Annual Silver Gloves Tournament in Independence, Missouri.
Ramirez, of Kaukauna, a member of the Electric City Chuters, was in Independrnce the past five days competing for the highest honor in the country.
On Saturday, he beat California for the championship, according to a news release from Electric City Chuters.
Kaukauna was well represented on the national stage.
Four of the seven boxers that entered the ring this week were Kaukauna locals and Kaukauna.Area School District students.
