APPLETON – Outagamie County Parks is partnering with the Fox Valley Battalion Army ROTC for a one-day leadership training event Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Appleton’s Plamann Park.
The Battalion includes cadets from UW–Oshkosh, St. Norbert College, Marian University, Ripon College, and UW–Green Bay.
What to expect:
Training will occur in designated park areas and is planned to minimize disruption to visitors.
Participants will carry clearly marked, nonfunctional training equipment (“rubber ducks”) that cannot fire projectiles.
No weapons or explosives will be used. Cadets will wear Army Combat Uniforms (ACUs/OCPs).
Temporary signs will mark training areas so visitors can avoid them if desired.
This partnership supports the Parks Department’s mission to use public spaces for learning, growth, and community building.
Hosting ROTC training in a natural setting helps develop teamwork and leadership skills while maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for all park users.
If you’re visiting Plamann Park on the afternoon of February 18, thank you for your patience and for sharing the space with future community leaders.
