LITTLE CHUTE — The Little Chute Village Board on Wednesday gave unanimous approval for construction of a new $8.2 million fire station, marking a significant expansion of the municipality’s emergency services infrastructure.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin this spring at 1105 Depot St.
According to Village Administrator Beau Bernhoft, the total bid award for construction is:
Base bid of $6,446,277
Alternates bid of $257,626
Soft Cost Estimates $1,522,498 (non-construction costs associated with the project)
The alternate bids include an underground stormwater detention system in lieu of a dry pond and for changing exterior materials and detailing of the facility.
The village borrowed $600,000 in 2023 (knowing this project was coming to fruition) and $7.5 million in 2025, totaling $8.1 million in borrowing.
Lease revenues with partners from Gold Cross, interest revenues and anonymous donations will assist in the financing of this project, Bernhoft said.
The village has opted to work alongside Miron Construction to serve as the construction manager to oversee the build and manage the trades.
According to a news release, the milestone followed an extensive planning process involving the Village Board, the village president and the Little Chute Fire Department Station Committee.
Local officials also credited the village administrator and finance director for their leadership in securing the project’s approval.
The new station is designed to serve as a long-term investment in community safety, according to the village.
The project also honors the legacy of past and present firefighters. Officials noted that the commitment and service of previous department members provided the foundation for this upcoming chapter in the village’s history.
