GREEN BAY — Former Kaukauna Ghosts basketball standout Keegan Van Kauwenberg was on the court for the first time in his collegiate career last week for the UW-Green Bay Phoenix.
He helped the Phoenix win its first Horizon League game of the season, beating the IU Indianapolis 85-75 on the road Thursday night. GAME RECAP
Van Kauwenberg came of the bench and quickly made a three-pointer — his first collegiate attempt — with 6:25 in the first half.
He finished the game with those three points on 1-for-two shooting, three rebounds and a steal.
Writer Scott Venci of the Press Gazette wrote a nice profile Friday about the former Kaukauna star’s coming out party.
“I am beyond proud of these young men. They fought hard against a team that plays a challenging style, and came out with our first road conference win,” Head Coach Doug Gottlieb said.
Green Bay, 5-7 overall, 1-2 in league play, returns home for a non-conference game against UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, December 17, at the Kress Center. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. CST.
