OSHKOSH — An Oshkosh firefighter was killed Thursday in Indiana in a crash while traveling with two others.

Firefighter/Paramedic Tom Diener lost his life as a result of the crash.

According to a social media post from the Oshkosh Fire Department, Diener, Carter Haen and Robbie Betts were involved in the crash in Indiana while traveling for work related to public safety and emergency warning systems

Diener was a dedicated firefighter, volunteer public servant and business owner whose work centered on protecting communities through emergency warning systems, according to the department.

He served as a firefighter/paramedic with the City of Oshkosh Fire Department and as a Lieutenant with the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department.

“His loss is profound and felt deeply by his family, friends, coworkers, and the fire service communities he so faithfully served,” read the post.

“We hold Carter and Robbie close in our hearts as they navigate the days ahead, and we are wrapping Tom’s family and loved ones in our deepest sympathy. We ask our community to keep them all in your thoughts and to respect their privacy during this difficult time,” the department said.

A donation page through the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation, dedicated to Tom’s memory and in support of Carter and Robbie, has been established.
