APPLETON — The Appleton Common Council recently renamed Appleton Memorial Park to Veterans Memorial Park—a space dedicated to honoring the city’s veterans.

That means the park currently named Veterans Park will be getting a new name.

The newly named park is on Witzke Boulevard on Appleton’s northeast side.

The soon-to-be renamed park is downtown below the Memorial Drive bridge.

Appleton Parks and Recreation is inviting residents to submit name suggestions that reflect the spirit, history or character of the park and community.

There are a few criteria to keep in mind, which you’ll find on the form.

Submissions are open through Jan. 31, 2026. The final name will be selected by the City Council in Spring 2026.
