KAUKAUNA — Visitors to the Grignon Mansion are invited to step back in time to the Christmas of 1848 as the Friends of the Charles A. Grignon Mansion host their Candlelight Christmas tours Saturday, Dec. 6 and Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13 and 14, 2025.

TAP FOR TICKETS

$12Adults Ages 18-61
$10Seniors Ages 62+
$6Children Ages 6-17

The holiday would have been celebrated at the Mansion in the Woods by three generations of the family from Grand Pere Augustin to Baby Maggie, aunts, uncles and guests.

The mansion, built in 1837, was Charles’ gift to his bride, Mary Elizabeth Meade. They raised 9 children in the home.

The family-friendly event will not be serving the Meade family fruit cake made with a cup of brandy and a cup of wine but will offer hot chocolate or cider for visitors and a horse drawn carriage ride around Lower Grignon Park.

As the United States gets ready to celebrate its 250th anniversary it should be remembered that the Grignon family has roots in North America that go back to the time when Wisconsin was part of New France, and they well established fur traders in this area before the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Hours for this year’s Candlelight Christmas tours will be 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the last tour starting at 6 p.m. each evening.

As there is no electricity in the home, guests who prefer natural light are encouraged to visit before sunset. Reservations are encouraged and can be made at www.grignonmansion.org.

Help is always welcome at events. Contact the Friends at www.gringonmansion.org for more information on becoming a volunteer.

The Historic Grignon Mansion is located at 1313 Augustine St. in Kaukauna.
