KAUKAUNA — A Kaukauna boy who collapsed on a playground a month ago is back at school and visited the station today to thank the first responders who saved his life.

According to a Kaukauna Fire Department social media post, first responders were dispatched Sept. 9 for an unresponsive child on a playground.

When they arrived they found people were already doing CPR before handing the response to first responders who were able to restore his heart rhythm and transport him to a local hospital where they stabilized him.

He was eventually transported by MedFlight to Children’s Hospital.

A month later he is back in school and was able to go on a field trip to the Kaukauna fire station to meet the crew that cared for him.

“It truly takes a village to make these things a success and because of that we are blessed to get some letters and a quick picture of what a miracle life is and the role we play,” first responders said.
