BUCHANAN — A stubborn silage fire inside a town of Buchanan silo kept multiple agencies on scene for three hours Saturday morning.

According to a news release, the Buchanan Fire department, along with EMS, was dispatched about 9:50 a.m. Saturday for a fire at W812 County Highway Z reporting silage burning in a concrete silo.

When he arrived at the scene, the deputy chief took command and completed a scene size-up.

Shortly after, a tender arrived and set up a water dump tank and a refill station at a nearby
hydrant.

Assistance was called from Greenleaf, Hollandtown and Wrightstown Fire for more
tenders and personnel.

The Wrightstown’s confined space team set up to investigate the situation and asses the best way to attack the fire.

A team was sent in the silo to extinguish any burning silage and ensure there would be no further spread.

Neighboring departments were released around three hours after the start of the call, and Buchanan remained on scene around three and a half hours.

At this time, there is no estimate of damage/loss.

Outagamie County Sheriffs department, Fox Valley Metro, Hollandtown Fire, Greenleaf Fire and
Wrightstown Fire assisted.
