COMBINED LOCKS — Craig Culver, the eponymous pitchman for his family’s chain of restaurants that are as synonymous with Wisconsin as cheese and badgers, paid a surprise visit Tuesday to the newest location in Combined Locks.

Holding a Culvers cup and with his “welcome to delicious” grin, Culver posed for pictures and mingled with guests as he ate his own lunch.

Both the restaurant and drive-through were packed about 11:30 a.m. after the official opening Monday morning.

A ribbon cutting ceremony took place at 9 a.m. Monday, one hour before its grand opening at 10 a.m.

The restaurant is located at 503 Martineau Road, just off CE west of Kaukauna in Combined Locks.

The two closest Culver’s are along I-41 north of Little Chute and off Highway 441 east of Appleton.
