KAUKAUNA — The busy intersection of Highway CE and Fieldcrest Drive near Quinney Elementary will soon get a major safety upgrade.
A proposal to create what engineers call a modified restricted crossing U-turn intersection was approved at the Kaukauna Public Works meeting Aug. 4.
This means drivers on Fieldcrest will only be able to turn right onto County CE.
The proposed concept is not a final design and a process of evaluating options for this intersection would still be needed before final design and construction, according to a staff memo.
Outagamie County has applied for, and was recently notified that the project has been selected to
receive federal funding through the Highway Safety Improvement Program.
The total cost for the project would be about $550,000 with about $480,000 being paid for through federal funding.
The city of Kaukauna and Outagamie county each would chip in $33,531 for the project.
City staff will work with Outagamie County on final design, including public input.
