DOOR COUNTY — Wisconsin Public Service is reporting multiple power outages throughout Door County after a strong storm with high winds whipped through the Peninsula Saturday afternoon.
Due to significant storm damage in Northern Door County, Door County Emergency Management is asking the public to stay off the roads and avoid all fallen debris and downed power lines.
- Hundreds of trees were reported down around Ephraim, and emergency crews were working to clear roadways.
- Highway 57 through Bailey’s Harbor flooded.
- Cana Island received damage in this afternoon’s storms. No one has been hurt. Guests have been evacuated from the island and are in the parking area awaiting crews to clear the roadway so they can safely leave. There are many trees down on the island and one is on the interpretive center (which is why guests are now in the parking area).
- CANA ISLAND WILL BE CLOSED ON SUNDAY as we work to clear debris and make damage assessments.
- The Ridges Cook-Albert Fuller Nature Center and all properties and trails are closed until further notice due to storm damage and downed trees.
