APPLETON — The advocacy group Hate Free Outagamie says a member of Appleton Downtown Inc. removed posters from light poles for an upcoming LGBTQ+ event in Appleton.

In a social media post Friday, the group says as they put up flyers for their Black Nite Brawl Rally, a celebration of homegrown Wisconsin queer resistance and trans joy, a rep from Appleton Downtown Inc. was caught ripping them down and crumpling them up.

The post said witnesses were furious because they say downtown Appleton businesses have consistently welcomed flyers from the group in their front windows.

The Black Night Brawl event us scheduled for 2 p.m. Aug. 9 in Houdini Plaza downtown.
