KAUKAUNA — As summer progresses, residents are starting to see some visual evidence of the referendum projects throughout the Kaukauna Area School District.
Follow along on the school district project WEBSITE. Here are some updates from after the 4th of July:
Park School – the attic space transformation is coming along nicely. Keller has been working with several contractors and demo is basically complete. A new set of stairs are going in as passers by may have seen the past couple days, they made their way to the top through the window. No huge surprises came out of demo which is great news as walls will start going up to construct the new library space, according to the district.

Victor Haen Addition – Design phase is getting closer to completion closer to a September ground breaking on the 30,000 plus square foot addition to add 4k and 5k to Haen.
Kaukauna High School Tennis Courts – The courts have been sanded down and are in the process of building a solid base to recoat and refinish our tennis courts so they are ready for the fall season.
Quinney/NDLC Playground – The foundation has been poured and some of the new equipment is going in. Over the next three weeks the playground will start to take shape.
Tanner Parking Lot – Tanner is getting a new, all concrete parking lot. While the design will be similar to the old parking lot, the new lot does add about ten spots to go with all new sidewalk by the main entrance. The base is almost complete on the parking lot which will allow for concrete to get poured.

New Middle School – As has been released, some concept draft designs have been put together. The site plan is coming together as the district works towards opening the school in Fall of 2028.
The new $169.2 million middle school includes:
- Capacity to serve 1,200+ students in grades 5-8
- Classrooms/labs for science, technology, and culinary courses
- Spaces for student collaboration, project-based learning, and performance
- Commons/cafeteria, 3-court gym, and fitness area for students and community use
- Outdoor physical education/practice fields
- Energy-efficient systems and natural lighting
- Geothermal heating and cooling system to reduce utility costs
The $198 million referendum, approved by voters in November, will enable the district to:
- Build a new, innovative middle school to replace River View, which the district says no longer adequately meets the needs of students.
- Expand access to 4K and 5K programs at Victor Haen Elementary School, providing more opportunities for the youngest learners.
- Renovate key areas at Park Community Charter School, including the main office and library, to better serve students and staff.
- Enhance safety and security across all district schools and address high-priority maintenance needs.
