UPDATE: The body of Eliotte Heinz was recovered about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Mississippi River near Brownsville, Minnesota, down river from La Crosse where she was last seen. La Crosse Police are continuing to investigate and will await the results of an autopsy for an official cause of death.

LA CROSSE — The La Crosse Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating a missing person.

Eliotte Heinz, 22, was last seen walking southbound on the 500 Block of Front Street South at approximately 3:22 a.m. on July 20th, 2025, according to police.

Her family, friends and police have made several attempts to locate her with no success.

According to a social media post from St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna, Heinz is the daughter of an associate at St. Paul’s.

Heinz, a graduate of Hortonville High School, attends Viterbo University in La Crosse, according to her Facebook page.

“Many of you have asked how you can help. At this time, the most important thing you can do is continue sharing Eliotte’s information on social media. For those in the La Crosse area, we ask that you review any home security camera footage from early Sunday morning between 2–6 a.m.—even the smallest detail could make a difference,” Eliotte’s parents, Shane and Amber wrote in a post shared by Viterbo.

Heinz is, 5’4”, 120 lbs, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and jean shorts.
