GRAND CHUTE — An Grand Chute pet owner is looking for their 32-year-old tortoise that escaped from its yard on July 11.

The tortoise, named Fig, was last seen near Prairie Hill Park in the Fox Valley Technical College area.

According to a post on Appleton lost dogs, cats and pets, the tortoise got out of his enclosure in its backyard so it could forage for weeds and most likely has snuck underneath the fence and is now on the lose.

The owners live off on First Avenue near Prairie Hill Park in Grand Chute.

He has been missing since about 5:30 PM on July 11.

Although tortoises are slow, they can cover a far distance in a short time. He is friendly and will not bite you if you pick him up, but he may squirm or “hiss.” This is something tortoises do when frightened. Reward for anyone who is able to bring him to me.
