VANDENBROEK — A man involved in a motorcycle accident was airlifted to a local hospital Sunday with severe injuries.
According to a news release, the Vandenbroek-Kaukauna Fire Department and first responders were dispatched to the 1800 block of Emery Lane about 5:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man involved in a motorcycle accident.
A 70-year-old Missouri man was driving a dirt bike southeast on Emery Lane and struck another vehicle head-on that was stopped on Emery Lane facing northwest, according to the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the man was not wearing a helmet, and due to the nature and severity of the injuries, ThedaStar medical helicopter was also requested.
When they arrived, first responders informed Vandenbroek-Kauksuns Fire that establishing a landing zone near the scene was not feasible.
Responders directed the crew to the Kaukauna Industrial Park, where a suitable landing zone was identified and established at Team Industries.
First responders assisted Gold Cross Ambulance in transporting the patient to the designated landing zone.
The patient was then airlifted to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center–Neenah.
The patient’s condition is currently unknown. The incident remains under investigation by the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of the vehicle that was hit was uninjured.
