KAUKAUNA — Nathan Laabs has been named the next head coach for Kaukauna High School varsity girls soccer.
According to a social media post from the high school, Laabs has been an assistant in both the boys and girls programs the past two years.
Laabs began coaching soccer in 2004 and led his high school teams at New Holstein to eight WIAA state appearances, with a 2010 state championship in Division 3 and two runner-up finishes in 2008 and 2014.
He will now lead the girls for the next chapter of Kaukauna Girls Soccer.
“In 2015, I hung up my high school whistle for a while and started coaching 8U and 9U soccer as my own children were that age,” Laabs said. “This position is a chance for me to take my coaching career full circle, I started in high school, went down to youth and have worked my way back to high school. I am excited to lead the girls program and I will also be staying on as an assistant with the boys.”
Additionally, Laabs was named the 2010 Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association “Small School” Coach of the Year and helped coach the senior all star game.
Laabs has been an 8th grade teacher at New Holstein Middle School for 23 years.
