ASHWAUBENON — An Ashwaubenon man whose heart had completely stopped last March is finally out of the hospital and is thanking the first responders who helped save his life.

The man, who was not identified by Ashwaubenon Public Safety, spent about seven weeks in the hospital, and was released on May 19, 2025.

Three days later, he came to the station to thank the crew.

According to a social media post that now has gone viral, Ashwaubenon Public Safety was called out March 25 for a man that was pulseless and non-breathing.

APS patrol officers arrived first, confirmed the patient’s condition, with a bystander performing CPR. APS patrol officers continued CPR and a short time later the ambulance arrived.

The ambulance crew took over patient care with the assistance of the patrol officers. A LUCAS device was placed on the patient which provides mechanical chest compressions for patients experiencing cardiac arrest.

The patient’s heart was defibrillated several times and multiple rounds of medication were administered.

The patient was transported to St. Vincent Hospital and care was transferred to their staff. The patient did regain a pulse and was moved to the St. Vincent Intensive Care Unit.
