KAUKAUNA — A power line transmission tower was reportedly knocked down in rural Kaukauna Monday evening, causing a massive fire seen for miles.
According to posts in the Kaukauna Community Facebook group, the incident happened on Harwood Road near County Highway KK in Kaukauna.
Witnesses say a tractor hit a main power line transmission tower in a field. The line fell onto the tractor and started the tractor on fire.
In a statement to FOX 11, WPS spokesperson Matt Cullen said:
“We Energies is assisting American Transmission Company with damage to ATC’s equipment near the Village of Kaukauna. Our crew is on scene helping to make the area safe for local first responders.”
The fire began about 6:30 p.m., according to reports.
