BLACK CREEK — Outagamie County sheriff’s deputies were stationed at Black Creek Elementary School as a precaution Wednesday morning while authorities executed a search warrant at a nearby apartment complex.

According to a news release, investigators with the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex on East Burdick Street in the Village of Black Creek.

This was part of an investigation into stolen property including stolen firearms. Due to the likely presence of firearms and other information developed during this investigation the Outagamie County Emergency Response Team was utilized for the service of the warrant.

Due to the proximity of the Black Creek Elementary School deputies were stationed at the school and the school was placed in a temporary lockdown while the scene was secured. This was coordinated with school officials prior to the incident.

This investigation is ongoing. One person was taken into custody and transported to the Outagamie County Jail.

The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
