BELOIT — There were no injuries, but more than 20 people are displaced after an apartment building fire Saturday in Beloit near the Wisconsin-Illinois border.

The fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Cleora Drive on the city’s west side.

Upon arrival, firefighters found residents had already left building, according to a news release.

Photos from the scene by Beloit Fire Department photographers Sharon and Tom Wisen show flames shooting from the second story windows and smoke billowing into the sky.

No injuries were reported and a search of the building yielded no additional occupants.

Families and individuals living in 10 units are displaced. Red Cross and the building’s owner are assisting residents.

The cause and total damage estimate are unavailable at this time.
