APPLETON – Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin announced Wednesday that the Fox Cares Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant in support of the hunger relief in the Fox Valley.
This grant will expand the local FarmLink program, providing over 30,000 pounds of fresh locally-grown produce to food pantries, meal programs and shelters throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
Among the food pantries in our area:
- De Pere Christian Outreach Food Pantry
- Salvation Army Fox Valley Food Pantry, Appleton
- Freedom Center Food Pantry, Appleton
- St. Joseph Food Program, Menasha
- Vinnie’s Pantry, Neenah
Through FarmLink, fresh produce is delivered directly from local farm fields to pantry partners, reducing transportation time and ensuring long-lasting freshness. This sustainable model benefits both families facing food insecurity and small-scale farmers in Northeast Wisconsin.
“This generous grant from the Fox Cares Foundation strengthens our commitment to providing fresh, healthy food to families experiencing hunger in Northeast Wisconsin,” said Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin President and CEO, Patti Habeck in a news release. “With the Foundation’s support of FarmLink, we’re not just increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables – we’re building a stronger, more resilient food system that supports local farmers and our vitally important food pantry partners.”
Fresh fruits and vegetables purchased through this grant via the FarmLink program will be distributed directly to food pantries, meal programs, and shelters within the greater Fox Cities and Green Bay.
This cropto-pantry approach ensures families in Northeast Wisconsin experiencing food insecurity will receive fresh, nutritious food, while also fostering economic growth for local farmers.
“We are excited and humbled to give a grant of this size to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin,” said Fox Cares Foundation Executive Director, Cathy Harvath. “Fighting hunger, providing access to the arts, and ending homelessness are the pillars that we have supported since we began in 2016. Our Foundation continues to grow due to the generosity of our communities enabling us to make a bigger impact in the areas we serve. This grant is a wonderful example of that.”
