MADISON — Last year’s win in the 165-pound championship match wasn’t enough for Kaukauna’s Liam Crook.
So this year, the Kaukauna Ghost junior followed it up Saturday evening with a state title at 175.
Crook defeated Eli Leonard of Mount Horeb/Barneveld 8-7 Saturday in the title match at the Division 1 state wrestling championship at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Crook’s win was the highlight of a strong finish by the six Ghosts who qualified for the tournament.
Nick Jenkins at 113, Andy DiPiazza at 120, Peyton Lee at 150 and Nehemiah Lendobeja at 285 all finished fourth in the state at their weights.
Kolin DeGroot at 165 finished sixth.
The Ghosts are back in Madison next week when the 2025 State Team Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday, March 7-8, 2025 at the UW Field House in Madison where the Ghosts will compete for their fifth team title in a row.
