KAUKAUNA – Two Kaukauna Area School District teachers were surprised yesterday as recipients Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce’s Excellence in Education Shining Star Awards.
Kaukauna High School and River View Tech Ed Teacher Kyle Dunphy and Park Community Charter School second-grade teacher Jennie Gries are among the 10 award winners in the area.
Gries, a nationally recognized trainer in Conscious Discipline, a program focused on brain-based strategies for building strong school communities, was recognized for her exceptional teaching and dedication to her students. (PHOTOS VIDEO)
“Mrs. Gries is a phenomenal classroom teacher and a huge asset to Park, her students, and the Kaukauna Area School District,” the school announced.

“Mr. Dunphy has a remarkable ability to build positive, meaningful relationships with students, inspiring them to work hard and achieve their best. He sees each student as an individual, always finding and nurturing the positive in them,” KHS Principal Aaron Herm said. “His dedication and compassion make him an invaluable part of the Kaukauna High School family.”
Dunphy and Gries will be formally presented with the award at a special ceremony hosted by the Chamber of Commerce in March.
