DOOR COUNTY — Door County hasn’t closed down for the winter quite yet.

For those looking for a fun way to kick off the New Year, there are several fun events in the works.

The big event Tuesday on New Year’s Eve is the FM 106.9 The Lodge Cherry Drop, which starts at 10:30 p.m. with music and a countdown to midnight.

As the clock strikes twelve, a giant sparkling cherry will drop to welcome the New Year, followed by the tapping of the first beer of 2024 from Bridge Up Brewing Company.

The cherry drop takes place at the corner of Bay Shore Drive (Highway 42) and Mill Road, near the Sister Bay Village Hall and across from Waterfront Park.

Then on Wednesday, the Egg Harbor New Year’s Day Parade begins at 1 p.m.

Bundle up, grab your favorite warm beverage in a to-go mug, and enjoy the quirky, festive fun that only a small-town parade can deliver.

Anyone can join this parade.

The parade lineup begins at Stella Maris Parish, (7710 Hwy 42 in downtown Egg Harbor), and runs north from Harbor School Road to County Hwy E.

Parking is available on Church Street. No formal registration required—just a willingness to dress up, bring your pets, or decorate a vehicle. Your only limitations are ingenuity and practicality.

Also Wednesday, before the parade, The Friends of Peninsula State Park will host their annual First Day Hike at the park.

Meet at the White Cedar Nature Center at 10 a.m. The guided hike will last about 30-45 minutes. There will also be an outdoor warming fire, hot beverages and cookies available after the hike.
