KAUKAUNA — The Kaukauna Fire Department is joining departments across the state to honor a Green Bay firefighter who died after a long battle with cancer.

Tyler Kreiter served the Green Bay community for 17 years as an Engineer/Paramedic on Green Bay Metro Fire Department.

On Saturday, KFD added a black mourning band to the sign atop the station in downtown Kaukauna to honor their fellow firefighter.

Kreiter, 43, lost his battle with cancer and is officially a listed as a line-of-duty death.

He graduated from Hamilton Sussex High School with the class of 2000 and attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks where he obtained his associate’s degree in Fire Science.

After college he worked for the Fairbanks Fire Department until he began his career with the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, according to his obituary.

He is survived by his wife, Alisha, and three children.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Celebration Church, 3475 Humboldt Rd., Green Bay, from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be no visitation on Thursday. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church.
