JANESVILLE — Two people were arrested Friday after police accuse them of stealing a vehicle with a 2-year-old inside.

The child was discovered safe by a passerby a short time later on the side of a street

According to a news release from Janesville Police, officers were sent about 4:30 p.m.Friday to the Stop N Go at 714 Center Ave, for a stolen vehicle that just occurred. 

The caller reported there was a 2-year-old child inside the vehicle when it was stolen. 

As officers were responding, updated information was provided that another witness found the 2-year-old child abandoned on the side of Riverside Street, still in the car seat.  The child was unharmed.
 
As Janesville Police were investigating, other officers from Janesville Police Department, Rock County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Beloit Police Department, City of Beloit Police Department, and Wisconsin State Patrol all began coordinating efforts to locate the suspects. 

Within minutes a Deputy from Rock County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle southbound on Afton Rd, towards Beloit.
