Babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) are dressing up for their first Halloween.

NICU Halloween costume contest kicks off, voting open to public through Oct. 28

GREEN BAY — Despite being hospitalized this October, Aurora Health Care’s tiniest patients are joining in on the Halloween festivities. Babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) are dressing up for their first Halloween.

Parents of the tiny but mighty patients worked with their child’s care team to safely dress their baby in a Halloween costume as simple or as elaborate as they wanted. This year’s costumes include a tiny Spidey, a pair of brave first responders, a little mermaid and so much more!

This annual event also includes a friendly social media contest. The pictures, which are featured on the Aurora Health Care’s Facebook page, are sure to bring a smile to your face

The public is encouraged to vote for their favorite costume by “liking” their photos on Facebook. The photos with the most reactions by noon Monday, Oct. 28 will win a prize.

“Celebrating the resilience of our NICU patients and their families is the most important part of this annual event, as they truly are superheroes every day,” said Dr. Kevin Dahlman, medical director of Aurora Children’s Health. “Helping our tiniest patients participate in their first Halloween is one small way we can bring smiles and joy that families in the NICU so deserve.”
