KAUKAUNA — After months of gathering community input, the Kaukauna Area School District Board of Education has authorized a facilities referendum, which will appear on the Nov. 5, 2024 ballot.
In the weeks leading up to the referendum, the Kaukauna Area School District will host 15 events to provide residents with opportunities to learn more about the plan’s details with the first one coming on Thursday evening, Sept. 19, 2024, according to a news release.
If approved, this plan will enable the district to:
- Build a new middle school to replace River View, which the district says no longer adequately meets the needs of students.
- Expand access to 4K and 5K programs at Victor Haen Elementary School, providing more opportunities for the youngest learners.
- Renovate key areas at Park Community Charter School, including the main office and library, to better serve students and staff.
- Enhance safety and security across all district schools and address high-priority maintenance needs.
The proposed new middle school, to be built on district-owned land adjacent to Kaukauna High School, will be designed to support the needs of 5th-8th grade students, with modern spaces that foster effective teaching and learning.
Open Houses
These events, held at River View Middle School, offer the most comprehensive opportunity for residents to engage with the referendum. During this self-paced event, attendees can stop by anytime between 6:00 – 7:30 PM to visit various informational stations where district staff and other professional resources will be available to discuss:
- Project components
- Design and construction
- Finance and tax impact
- Impact on teaching and learning
Guided tours of River View Middle School will also take place every half hour during the open houses.

- Thursday, September 19 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM in the River View Lobby
- Monday, October 7 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM in the River View Lobby
