KAUKAUNA — No one was injured, but a resident has been displaced following a fire Saturday evening in Kaukauna.

The Kaukauna Fire Department responded at 6:20 p.m. Saturday to the fire in the 900 block of Taft Street where a single-family home was reported to have smoke and flames coming from the house.

When they arrived, fire crews saw smoke and flames coming from a window on the back of the house with flames extending towards the roofline.

Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire in the bedroom using handlines from the exterior of the house.

Fire crews then made their way into the house and fully extinguish the fire within 15 minutes of arrival.

The house sustained significant smoke damages throughout the first floor, as well as fire damage to a bedroom and hallway.

No civilians or firefighters were hurt in the fire, but one resident, who was not home at the time, was displaced.

Fire officials are crediting an alert neighbor with spotting the fire and quickly notified 911.

Damages to the building and its contents are estimated to be $80,000.

The Kaukauna Fire Department was assisted by Kaukauna Police Department and Little Chute Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
