President Joe Biden said he won’t step down as the Democratic nominee in his race for president against Donald Trump.

WASHINGTON — In an announcement released Sunday afternoon, President Joe Biden said he was dropping out of the race for president in 2024 and is endorsing his vice president, Kamala Harris.

The announcement comes following a push by the national media and Democratic leadership following his debate performance against Donald Trump.

Despite that, Biden and Trump remained neck and neck in the polls, and it’s unknown if a Democratic replacement will fair any better.

In a post on X/Twitter, Biden wrote, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term.

“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made.

“Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
