KAUKAUNA — Grace Willey, known for her love of travel and dedication to volunteering in Kaukauna, died July 4 at age 97.
Willey received the lifetime achievement award in 2009 from the Kaukauna Service organization and will be remembered for her cookies, homemade pickles and rhubarb cake, according to her obituary.
In a social media post, The 1000 Islands Environmental Center wrote that Willey’s dedication and love for 1000 Islands was evident.
“From opening the nature center on weekends to coordinating the art and craft fair raffles, assisting with the gift shop, and helping with numerous public and school programs, Grace’s contributions were invaluable,” they wrote. “She also took great pride in maintaining the butterfly and prairie gardens, a testament to her love for nature and 1000 Islands.”
She worked at O’Connell/Walsh/Hartjes Insurance Agency for 46 years.
A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna with a mass to follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the 1000 Island Environmental Center would be appreciated.
