KAUKAUNA — The Local History Department of the Kaukauna Public Library needs your help.
Local historian Gavin Schmitt with the library says they have a large amount of veteran articles in their collection, but need veteran photos to go along with them.
“Whether you have copies to donate to the library, or have photos we can copy, we would love to add them to our collection,” Schmitt said.
The library will accept donations of photographs, or they can scan the photos and return the originals.
Photographs already in digital format can be emailed to Schmitt here: gschmitt@kaukauna.gov
Along with the photo, people will need to submit the veteran’s name.
If they know the years served, if they were in any wars/battles, that should be included as well..
“We have about 5,600 articles and the goal is to get a photo to match with the articles,” Schmitt said. “Our current database is primarily stories, so if we can add a photo we will put the article text below so we can preserve the reports of where they were stationed, what training they had, etc.”
