GREEN BAY — Aurora BayCare Medical Center is welcoming Leap Day babies to the world on this special day that comes once every four years.
These Leap Day babies, or leaplings, share a special birthday that comes around only once every four years.
The first Leap Day baby of 2024 is Zakari Schenk, son of Lauryn and Alex Schenk of Green Bay.

Zakari was born at 3:27 a.m. and weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces.
Conrad was the second Leap Day baby born at BayCare, and the hospital will add more photos throughout the day.

It is estimated that only about five million, or around 0.07 percent of the total population, have a February 29 birthday.
The chance of being born on Leap Day is one in 1,461, less likely than flipping a coin and coming up “heads” ten times in a row.
