KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna High School sophomore Evie Mursau, a member of the Fox Cities Stars coop girls hockey team, has been named a finalist as the state’s top defensive player by Wisconsin Prep Hockey.
Mursau is a finalist for the Molly Engstrom Award, named for the Wisconsin native and University of Wisconsin grad who currently is the head coach at the University of Maine.

She is joined on the finalist list by Fox Cities Stars teammate Peyton Hewitt, a senior at Fox Valley Lutheran, a finalist for the the Rachel Kenyon Unsung Hero Award.
Generally this isn’t going to be a player who lights up the scoresheet, or shuts down the opposing team with stunning regularity.
This is a player who fights through adversity and with grit and determination makes their team and program better.
The Stars advanced to the sectional semifinal in this year’s hockey playoffs, before falling 4-3 to top-seeded De Pere.
The Wisconsin Prep Hockey Awards will be presented on Friday, March 1, 20204 at the Marriot Madison West near Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena.
