KSUKAUNA — A small pond located near Hillcrest Drive is being modified to meet DNR standards for stormwater pollutant removals.
The pond is part of the Upper Woods of the 1000 Islands Conservation Area, just north of the entrance to the Girl Scout’s Camp Winnecomac.
Thanks in part to a DNR grant, what the city calls the Company Woods Pond at 1000 Islands is getting upgraded and will be restored with a large wetland area near the pond safety shelf, native prairie plantings and a few new trees, according to a city news release.
