KAUKAUNA — Asha LyBoualong, a sophomore at Kaukauna High School, is the winner this week of the Post Crescent’s inaugural student of the week contest.

She collected 56% of votes over runner-up Joshua Hartlep of Appleton West High School.

The Post-Crescent plans to hold the contest weekly where principals and other school staff in the Fox Cities nominate high schools for the program.

In nominating LyBoualong, Kaukauna High School principal Chris McDaniel said LyBoualong is an example of “tremendous leadership” at the school.

She is in student council, DREAM (a group dedicated to living drug and alcohol free), Key Club (a service organization), Diversity Club, and is a member of the track team.

Most recently, the KHS faculty voted to send LyBoualong to the Wisconsin Leadership Seminar, a program that encourages and trains high school sophomores to become leaders in their community.
