KIMBERLY — So far this year the Fox Valley Metro Police Department has made 125 Operating While Intoxicated arrests in the Village of Little Chute and Village of Kimberly.

The department is highlighting the number as the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign gets under way Friday.

During the holidays last year, there were 470 statewide crashes involving impaired drivers.

Those crashes killed five people and injured another 178.

Throughout the holidays, police departments across northeast Wisconsin will participate in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

Starting Friday, increased patrols will be hitting area streets to ensure everyone makes it to their holiday destinations safely, according to a news release.

“So before you head out this holiday season, have a plan. Have a plan to call a cab, to call an Uber or to call friends or family if you plan on having a few drinks. There is no excuse to get behind the wheel intoxicated,” police said.
