KAUKAUNA — There are few things more honored by any family than the flag from the casket a fallen veteran stored respectfully in a traditional tri-corner wooden case.

Students from the Kaukauana High School Applied Woodworking recently presented Kaukauna’s VFW Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41 with the flag cases they built to hold the flags of fallen veterans.

“These cases have a tremendous impact on the family members who receive them at their loved ones’ military funerals,” read a social media post from the Kaukauna Area School District.

The district thanked the American Legion, VFW, Tech. Ed. teacher Craig Sackmann and his students for their combined efforts to honor the community’s fallen military members.

This student-led project is a powerful way to give back to our Kaukauna community.
