KAUKAUNA — Construction will begin in August on the city of Kaukauna’s new Aquatic Center, however that means the pool will be closing early this year.

One bit of good news is that the annual Doggy Dip will still take place.

At Tuesday’s Common Council meeting, the Council voted to move forward with construction on the project.

The Kaukauna Municipal Pool will close two weeks early on Aug. 6, 2023 due to construction of the new Aquatic Center.

City staff was informed that the Aquatic Center construction would take ten months to complete.

“As we strive to provide enhanced amenities to our community, temporary inconveniences are inevitable,” said Terri Vosters, Community Enrichment & Recreation Director. “We understand the disappointment this may cause, especially during the summer season. However, we are very excited for the enjoyment the new Aquatic Center will provide our community for full summer seasons to come.”

The tentative timeline for the Aquatic Center project is below:

– August 6th, 2023 – Pool closes to the public

– August 7th, 2023 – Annual Doggie Dip @ 5:00pm

– August 14th, 2023 – Construction kick-off

– May 2024 – Tentative Aquatic Center dedication

– June 2024 – Tentative Aquatic Center opening
