KAUKAUNA — Welding work on a vehicle sparked a fire that spread to a garage wall Friday evening in Kaukauna.
The Kaukauna Fire Department reported they responded Friday at 5:17 p.m. to 119 W 8th Street where a vehicle on fire, and the fire extended into the garage.
Firefighters arrived on scene within 3 minutes to the rear alleyway to find a vehicle fully involved with fire spreading to the garage wall, according to a news release.
The resident of the home reported that the fire started while he was doing some welding on the vehicle.
The vehicle was positioned outside the garage but was only feet away from the garage structure.
Firefighters were able to move quickly to knockdown the fire.
Both the vehicle and the wall of the garage were extinguished before the fire had time to spread into the garage structure itself, damaging only the exterior of the wall.
Damages were limited to the vehicle and the exterior garage wall. Total damage estimate of $15,000.
