KIMBERLY — A 9-year-old girl from Kimberly died Friday afternoon after being struck by a semi in Combined Locks.

The driver, a Kaukauna man, is cooperating with the investigation.

According to a news release, the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was sent shortly after 3 p.m. Friday to a report of an injury crash at the intersection of Washington Street and Wallace Street in the Village of Combined Locks.

Authorities say a 9-year-old girl from Kimberly was crossing Washington Street and was struck by a semi-tractor being driven by a 59-year-old Kaukauna man.

The 9-year-old was transported to a local hospital, where she died according to a news release.

The semi driver remained on scene and is cooperating with law enforcement.

The intersection was closed for approximately four hours for evidence collection and crash reconstruction, and has since been reopened.

The incident remains under investigation.

The initial witness interviews and security camera footage suggest speed was not a factor in this tragic crash.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Fox Valley Metro Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Combined Locks Fire and First Responders, Buchanan Fire and First Responders, Kimberly Fire and First Responders, and the Outagamie County Highway Department.
