PULASKI — Polka legend Alvin Styczynski passed away Monday at age 87.

Styczynski was Northeast Wisconsin’s biggest Polka star in the late 60s or early 70s with a weekly weekend show on Green Bay TV.

Frog County 92.3 Radio host Gary Kuchenbecker said he was saddened to hear the news. “I remember him replacing Romy Gosz on Green Bay television, and I remember watching him from when I was a young kid on.”

Styczynski performed at many local venues and performed well into the later years of his life. He was a mainstay at the Shawano County Fair for years, according to Shawano’s THC Daily News website.

Styczynski’s niece, Lynnelle, posted her condolences to Facebook.

“Our family lost Uncle Alvin this afternoon,” she wrote. “Rest in Peace Uncle Alvin and keep playing the concertina and singing in heaven.”

Funeral details have not yet been announced, and arrangements are being handled by Marnocha Funeral Home of Pulaski.
