FREEDOM — Multiple agencies responded to a fire near Freedom Thursday that sent smoke billowing over I-41 during the morning rush hour.

Photos from Ashwaubenon Public Safety show flames shooting through the roof of the building.

Officials say callers began reporting smoke across Interstate 41 just before 6:30 a.m.

The fire broke out at The Macht Village Program facility that assists individuals both young adults and children with severe emotional and behavioral hardships.

It is located about a mile from Freedom Exit 41 South.

Brown County’s dispatch center was able to get in contact with a Macht Village Programs representative who said the building should not be occupied, according to WLUK TV.
