APPLETON — Two people were pronounced dead and two others were hospitalized after police came upon several unconscious people in a Grand Chute parking lot.

During routine patrol of a hotel in the 200 Block of N Westhill Blvd, an officer found someone who appeared unconscious laying on the ground in the parking lot, according to a Grand Chute Police Department news release.

The officer checked on the person, but the person did not have a pulse and was not breathing.

The officer immediately began administering CPR. While the officer was providing medical aid, he saw another person in a nearby vehicle who also appeared unconscious and unresponsive.

The second individual was taken out of the vehicle by police and medical personnel before CPR was administered.

A short time later, a third person was found inside the hotel who was in medical distress.

Officers rendered emergency medical aid to this individual.

In total, four people were taken to local hospitals for emergency medical care.

After arrival at the hospital, two of the people were pronounced dead by the Outagamie County Coroner.

Police have not publicly released a suspected cause of death.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

At this time the incident is believed to be isolated and there is no danger to the public.
