KAUKAUNA — Spent fireworks on the rubber roof of a Kaukauna building is being blamed for a fire that caused thousands of dollars of damage.

Fire crews were called just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a roof on fire in Eagles Court, which is off Dodge Street across from Bayorgeon Field, according to a news release from the Kaukauna Fire Department.

A neighbor who called 911 began to extinguish the fire with his garden hose before the fire department arrived to extinguish the blaze.

The fire caused $20,000 in damage to the roof and ceiling.

No one was injured, according to the news release.
